Nurse Sandra Barrett

Sandra has worked in Dunlavin Health Centre for 8 years. She worked with Dr. Mary Kearney until the Practice changed hands to Dunlavin Family Practice. She is originally from Templemore, Co. Tipperary. She trained in Whippscross Hospital in London as a General Nurse and a Mid Wife. She moved back to Ireland and worked in National Maternity in Holles street.

She then worked in St. James and Naas hospital as a theatre Nurse. She decided after many years of hospital work that she would put her skills to good use in the Community and took up a role as a GP Practice Nurse in Dunlavin. Her daily duties are many including taking bloods, Blood pressure checks, ECG and vaccinations. She has a keen interest in Midwifery and really enjoys looking after expectant Mothers.

Sandra is also involved in the provision on women’s health care and in the Cervical check programme. Vaccinations have become increasingly complex over recent years but Sandra has great knowledge in the field and more than willing to try to answer the concerns you may have.
